Hooroo from a Sunburned Country

Posted by Jane on 01/20 at 07:53 PM

Skiing in Turkey was fabu, but Devo was itching for some alfalfa, so we headed south to summer. I’m surfing the Ally at Currumbin this week on Australia’s Gold Coast. Killer right hand pointbreaks!

My friend Cooper let me borrow a quality stick with a nice skeg on the back end - what more could I ask for? The rocks are treacherous and I keep crashing in the soup, but I’m gettting the hang of the longboard.

Picnic dinner tonight at O’Reilly’s Vineyard, and home and hosed before 10 for some sleep.

Here’s a tip: pick up some Dorothea Mackellar and love her accessible poetry. From “My Country”:  I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror - The wide brown land for me!

Hooroo mates, catch up soon.
